It takes a special sort of person to spend countless hours in practice, then more countless hours traveling, all for no pay. When we spoke with the gentleman below about joining the group we told them we weren't looking for singers, singers can be had most anywhere. No, what we needed were ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that also knew how to sing. The guys you see on this page, all fit that description. Wayne Hughes - Tenor
Wayne started singing gospel music as a child at the church where his father was song leader. He was saved as a young teenager and started singing in traveling groups at the age of 16yrs old.
Wayne’s first group was the Disciples Quartet. Wayne has been singing ever since. His call to this ministry comes from a lifelong desire to follow Christ and share His message of salvation and grace. Wayne lives in Springfield MO with his wonderful wife Debi. They have 3 children. Wayne serves as the CEO of Ascension Gospel Quartet, Inc. which is a 501c3 non-profit corporation. Chris Judy - Lead
Chris has been singing since he was a small boy, he grew up singing out of the old hymnals in the Church where he and his family went for many years close to Bennett Springs, MO. His love and passion for Gospel music was influenced by his grandparents whose love for Southern Gospel Music knew no bounds. Chris held the baritone position with the Truelove Quartet out of Lebanon, MO for a number of years before starting a solo ministry. Chris is from Lebanon, MO where he lived and grew up most of his life. His love for the Lord and singing for Him grows stronger each day.

Derrick Newman - Baritone
Derrick began singing as a young boy in the church where he grew up in Sikeston, MO. Upon moving to Lebanon, MO in 1998, he continued to serve God by singing specials and being a member of the church choir. Derrick now enjoys playing the piano at his current church and singing with his children when not traveling with the quartet. In 2014, he joined The Truelove Quartet as tenor where he ministered with them for two years. After taking a break, he is now ready to minister to others with his testimony and through music. Derrick currently resides in Lebanon, MO with his wife, Kelly, and four children whom he loves dearly.
Walter Hayes - Bass
Walter Hayes has been singing since he was a child. His first memories of singing in a group of any sort were with his mother at a Billy Graham crusade in 1970 in Baton Rouge, LA when they sang together in the choir. Walter has sung with groups and done solo work ever since. His calling is ministering to the lost and the body of Christ through song. Walter attended Missouri Southern State University and has studied through Lee University in Cleveland, TN and the Nazarene Theological Seminary located in Brisbane Australia.
Walter lives in Carl Junction, MO with his wife, Regina. They have 5 children and 15 grandchildren that they enjoy immensely. Walt serves as the President of Ascension Gospel Quartet, Inc. which is a 501(c)3 ministry. |
